After a few posts and reviews in certain media I wanted to straighten some confusion. Many people seem to refer the Harbormaster™ collection to the IWC Aquatimer since both have full lumed bezels.

To note, neither company knew the other was creating a bezel that had the entire warning track of the divers bezel full lumed. Both companies were creating their own design silent from the other in ’08-’09. However IWC released their collection first because of their size and the design of their bezel. IWC‘s lumed bezel consists of a sapphire over the entire track of the bezel including the lumed area.

Our design required some new technology in chemical engineering to create a Lumed Bezel™ that was not protected by a sapphire. This included a multitude of time and effort creating a binder for hardening the luminescent pigments so as to not scratch off or be damaged. The end result allows for a clean simplified look.

Our design is Patent Pending as I believe IWC‘s is as well.

We actually didn’t even know IWC‘s bezel glowed until last week. We had always assumed it was just colored like all their other divers as well as other brands.
